    There is just one thing I disagree with and that is your definition of local SEO. Local SEO is not just Google Places and actually dates way before Google Places or Google Local or Google Business center were created 🙂


  2. Hi Nyagoslav,

    I absolutely agree. Local SEO can apply to any localised campaign. We use this as a general term, however, for services/products that can benefit primarily from the ‘Places’ platform. The significance coming from the positional advantage that a Places result would earn a company selling a product or service (included within the category list) within a locality.

    But yes, totally agree it’s not a definitive term 🙂


  3. I really enjoyed the presentation, Alex – and I think it gave the audience a renewed focus on Local. One thing that may be interesting for a follow-up would be your hints and tips on how to be ‘local’ in multiple areas. Lots of small businesses have clients and prospects out of the local area, but can provide just as good a service far from home. yet Google normally forces a local presence.

  4. Thanks for the kind comments, David. Will definitely consider discussing this point as I agree it’s relevant for many smaller businesses. The hard bit will be keeping to white hat strategies only! 😀
